Due to the COVID-19 -situation we have been searching for alternative ways to offer Sibelius Summer Academy high-class courses in 2021. In May, June and August 2021 we are offering these courses mostly for the Sibelius Academy and Finnish students, but will be publishing some material online also for the wider audience.

We are happy to announce that in Summer 2021 we are for example planning to offer online video lessons for woodwind and brass students during Woodwinds @ Sibelius Summer Academy (24.-29.5.2021) and Brass @ Sibelius Summer Academy (29.5.-3.6.2021), featuring teachers from the Sibelius Academy faculty and the Sibelius Academy’s international visitor programme.

In August 2021 we are happy to welcome the world-renowed Theatre of Voices to teach again at the Vocal Ensemble @ Sibelius Summer Academy 16.-21.8.2021. This time, they will be focusing on especially on repertoire composed between 1570 and 1830, with a particular emphasis on the vocal quartets of Haydn.

In the Early Music @ Sibelius Summer Academy course 7.-13.8.2021 the Sibelius Academy and other students from Finland will prepare G. Fr. Händel's Semele Oratorium HWV 58. The course results will be heard on August 13th as a part of the BRQ Vantaa festival. During this couse, also a course for organists by Balint Karos will be organized.

Please note that most of the courses will be mostly open to Sibelius Academy students only, but some will be also available to the general public to follow online.

The course contents and timetables are highly dependable on the development of the Coronavirus situation in Finland an abroad, and we are closely following the general COVID guidelines of the University of the Arts Helsinki.
