null Anni Haapaniemi welcomes the woodwind community to Helsinki

Anni Haapaniemi is one of the Sibelius Academy, Uniarts Helsinkis faculty members participating in the woodwind week. Originally from Central Ostrobothnia, after the multiple stages she is now an orchestra musician, holding a position in Tapiola Sinfonietta. She is also a part-time oboe teacher at the Sibelius Academy, Uniarts Helsinki, and a mother from Espoo.

- I think the best things about teaching are the common insights that create new paths and open up new worlds. Internationality is our field of work is to be taken for granted in many ways. The universal language of music helps you feel at home wherever you go. The fact that the world has become smaller and diverse musical universes today are only a few clicks away, offers us endless possibilities to change perspective. And that’s what's important to everyone!

What tips would you give to someone who has not visited Helsinki before?

- Helsinki right now, in the earliest days of summer, is at its best! I’d advise you to enjoy the light nights and in your spare time, find your way to Harjutori sauna or Regatta café in Töölö. The Kupka exhibition in Ateneum is also a jewel!
